Introduction to Solar, Battery Storage and Hybrid Systems
Introduction to Solar, Battery Storage and Hybrid Systems
Where:
Byron Bay, NSW Dates: New Course Dates To Be Confirmed Times: 8.30am – 3.30pm each day Cost: $975 ex GST |
Registration:
Places will are limited to just 10 participants per workshop so you are encouraged to register your interest to help our scheduling and not miss out.

Practical Equipment:
The dedicated training venue is equipment with the following selection of equipment to aid the learning and education experience;
Additional components and equipment will be supplied including all switch gear, cables, crimps and fixings plus appropriate tooling as required to install. Basic electricians tool kits per practical group will be supplied to ensure that multiple practical installations can proceed at the same time.
Course Outcome:
The practical course will deliver to participants an introduction to the components and parameters of different storage system configurations with batteries. Storage system designs will cover everything from small UPS or dedicated circuit style system with PWM or AC to DC battery charging through to hybrid systems with multi-mode grid-connect inverters. System information will be of use to anyone looking to undertake marine, camper or off-grid design and installation, UPS or grid-connect hybrid.
The course delivery will be practiced though a mixture of hands on installation of various sized battery system and configurations as well as testing, commissioning and programming of selected multi-mode inverters.
The course will look to teach teach suitable energy management strategies, system design and battery sizing techniques which can be applied to a site where a possible system could be installed.
The intention of the course is to deliver to the participant the ability to understand the principals of system design including calculating and selecting the correct sized batteries, cable, breakers and overall equipment so that the systems output performance and overall functionality meets the specific requirements of the end user or client.
The course will also impart a thorough understanding of current guidelines, relevant Australian Standards, network regulations and manufacturers' requirements.
Online Course Component:
The course will be also be supported by an initial online study module to ensure that participants have the basic level of understanding of the fundamentals to be put into practice as well as a subsequent online course module to ensure that the key facts and components of design and overall system safety and compliance have been clearly imparted and understood. Both online courses as well as during the face to face course component will involve assessments and upon successful course completion the participant will receive a certificate to verify their achievement.
Experienced Course Trainer:
The course will be run and delivered by a highly experienced and qualified industry professional with CEC Grid Connect & Stand-Alone Power Systems Design & Install qualifications as well as being a current fully licenced Electrical Contractor in NSW. The trainer has worked in the installation, design and commissioning field within the residential and commercial Australian solar PV arena as well as marine, hybrid and off-grid industry.
Course Prerequisites:
There are no prior knowledge requirements for participants of this course although a basic working knowledge of grid-connect solar PV systems would be an advantage.
This practical course will be delivered using Extra Low Voltage (ELV) only as the session will provide an introduction only. the course will not qualify the participants to install solar on-grid, off-grid or hybrid systems.
Course Catering:
Morning tea and lunch will be provided each day.
CEC Battery Storage Endorsement Guidelines:
Please note to apply for the Clean Energy Council (CEC) Battery Storage Endorsement firstly a qualified electrician must hold accreditation for the ‘Design and Install of Grid-connected (GC) Photovoltaic Systems’, and then subsequent to that must complete the additional training module ‘Grid-Connected Battery Storage Design and Installation’.
